Maya earned her M.F.A. in fiction writing in 2023 from the Iowa Writer’s Workshop, where she received the Truman Capote Fellowship. She graduated from Stanford University with a B.A. in English and Creative Writing. She writes and teaches in the Bay Area.

When not reading or writing, Maya enjoys spending time in nature, dancing, and playing guitar. She has an identical twin, an older sister, and the best niece ever. Her writing has appeared in publications including The Antigonish Review, Scrivener Creative Review, Terrain.org, BALLOONS Lit. Journal, The Leland Quarterly, Snapshots, Collision Literary Magazine, and The Emerson Review.
